Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal information Net Narrator collects, why, and what you can do about it. Net Narrator is run by Joshua Brouard, an SEO consultant based in Durban, South Africa. When this policy says “I”, “me” or “Net Narrator”, it means Joshua.
Last updated: 16 October 2026. If anything here is unclear, ask me. My contact details are at the bottom of this page.
The short version
- I only collect what I need to reply to you and do the work you’ve asked for.
- I never sell your information, and I don’t share it for anyone else’s marketing.
- Some tools I use, like Google, Microsoft and WhatsApp, may store information on servers outside South Africa.
- You can ask to see, correct or delete your information at any time.
Who is responsible for your information?
Net Narrator, run by Joshua Brouard, is the “responsible party” under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). I’m also the Information Officer, so any privacy question comes straight to me.
What information do I collect?
When you get in touch. Your name, phone number, email address, business name and whatever you tell me about your business. That might come through WhatsApp, a phone call, email or the contact form on this website.
When we work together. Details needed to do the job and bill you, such as your business address, invoicing details, and access to your website, Google Business Profile, Google Search Console or Google Analytics. I only use that access for the work we’ve agreed on.
When you visit this website. Basic technical information, such as the pages you view, roughly where you are (city or country), the type of device and browser you use, and how you arrived at the site.
I also use Microsoft Clarity, which records how visitors move around the site: where they click, tap and scroll, and how far down a page they get. It turns this into heatmaps and anonymous replays of visits, so I can spot pages that confuse people and fix them. Clarity automatically hides anything typed into forms, and it can’t see your name or contact details.
When you use the AI article assistant. Blog posts have an “Ask AI about this article” button. If you type a question into it, your question and the recent messages in that chat go to Cloudflare’s AI service, which writes an answer based on the article. I don’t save your questions or the answers. To stop the assistant being overused, it keeps a scrambled code made from your IP address for two days, which is only used to count how many questions have been asked. The assistant is automated, so please don’t type personal or confidential details into it.
None of this website information tells me who you are.
I don’t collect sensitive information like your health, religion or financial account details, and I don’t ask for it.
Why do I use it?
- To reply to your enquiry and give you a quote
- To do the work we’ve agreed on and keep you updated on progress
- To send invoices and keep the records the law requires
- To understand how people use this website so I can make it easier to use
- To answer questions you ask the AI article assistant on blog posts
- To protect the website from spam and misuse
I’ll only send you marketing, such as an occasional email with SEO tips, if you’ve agreed to it. You can stop it at any time.
Who do I share it with?
Only the services I need to run the business:
- Website hosting: domains.co.za hosts this website in South Africa.
- Website security and speed: Cloudflare helps protect the site and load it faster.
- Website statistics: Google Analytics and Google Search Console show me how the site is found and used.
- Website usability: Microsoft Clarity shows me how visitors use each page, through heatmaps and visit recordings.
- AI article assistant: Cloudflare’s Workers AI writes the answers to questions asked on blog posts.
- Communication: WhatsApp, my email provider and my phone.
I’ll also share information if the law requires it, for example if SARS or a court asks for it.
Does my information leave South Africa?
It can. Google, Microsoft, WhatsApp (owned by Meta) and Cloudflare store data on servers in other countries. These are large companies with their own strict privacy and security standards, and POPIA allows this kind of transfer when the information stays properly protected.
Cookies
This website uses a small number of cookies, mainly so I can see visitor statistics through Google Analytics and how pages are used through Microsoft Clarity. These statistics tools are on when you arrive, and you can switch them off with the Decline button on the cookie banner. Visitors from the European Union, the UK and Switzerland are asked first. I rely on my legitimate interest in understanding and improving the site, and you can object at any time. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and the site will still work. There’s more detail in the Cookie Policy.
How long do I keep it?
- Enquiries that don’t turn into work: up to 12 months, then deleted
- Client records and invoices: 5 years after our work ends, because South African tax law requires it
- Access to your accounts: I remove myself or hand it back when our work ends
- AI article assistant: questions and answers aren’t stored, and the scrambled IP code used to count questions is deleted after 2 days
- Website statistics and Clarity recordings: kept by Google and Microsoft for their standard periods, which are currently up to 14 months for Google Analytics and up to 13 months for Clarity heatmap data, with recordings usually deleted after 30 days
How do I keep it safe?
I use strong passwords, two-factor login wherever it’s available, and secure, up-to-date software. Access to client accounts is limited to the work we’ve agreed on. No system is completely immune to attack, but if your information is ever exposed in a breach, I’ll tell you and the Information Regulator as soon as reasonably possible, as POPIA requires.
Children
My services are for businesses, and I don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
If I change how I handle personal information, I’ll update this page and the date at the top.
Your rights
Under POPIA you can:
- ask what personal information I have about you
- ask me to correct anything that’s wrong or out of date
- ask me to delete your information, unless the law requires me to keep it

- unsubscribe from any marketing
Just send me an email or a WhatsApp. I’ll reply within 30 days, usually much sooner, and there’s no charge.
